Application & Audition Information
Thank you for your interest in applying and auditioning for the
2025-2026 season of the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra!
All applications & auditions are due by Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
In order to be considered for placement in an FWYO ensemble during the 2025-2026 season, all applicants must submit the following:
1) A completed online application
2) An audition video recording*
*To verify the identity of the applicant, recording must be video, and applicants should introduce themselves verbally. Hand positions should be visible in the video.
The online application & ensemble-specific audition requirements can be found below! Please note, auditions may result in the applicant being considered for placement in another ensemble, but only one audition is needed. If your audition is not accepted for placement in your first choice ensemble, your submission will flow into consideration for your second & third choice ensembles, as indicated in your application (see chart).

THE YOUTH ORCHESTRA
Rehearses Sundays, 5:30-8:30PM, beginning in August.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Percussion, Harp, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Please note, all YO auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in PHIL, WE, SO, JSO, or JWE (depending on the instrument).
PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Rehearses Sundays, 3:00-5:15PM, beginning in August.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone,
Tuba, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Please note, all PHIL auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in SO, JSO, WE, or JWE (depending on the instrument).
STRING ORCHESTRA
Rehearses Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30PM, beginning in August.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
Please note, all SO auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in JSO.
Jr. STRING ORCHESTRA
Rehearses Mondays, 6:00-7:15PM, beginning in August.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
WIND ENSEMBLE
Rehearses Sundays, 12:45-2:45PM, beginning in November.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon,
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, French Horn, Trumpet,
Trombone, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Bass
Please note, all YO & PHIL auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in WE (depending on the instrument).
WE Audition Requirements:
• All 12 major scales
• 30 seconds each of:
a) One technical selection of your choice
b) One lyrical selection of your choice
Selections can be from etudes, excerpts, or solo repertoire.
Jr. WIND ENSEMBLE
*Eighth grade & under*
Rehearses Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15PM, beginning in August.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon,
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, French Horn, Trumpet,
Trombone, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion
Please note, YO, PHIL & WE auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in JWE (depending on applicant's age and instrument).
JWE Audition Requirements:
• All major scales you currently know
• 30 seconds each of:
a) One technical selection of your choice
b) One lyrical selection of your choice
Selections can be from etudes, excerpts, or solo repertoire.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Rehearses Mondays, 6:00-8:00PM, beginning in October.
Auditions accepted for the following instruments:
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone,
Bass Trombone, Piano, Bass, Drums, Guitar
